Brief History
Mini Dachshund
The “Dachshund” breed was developed in Germany during the 16th century. German hunters preferred the smaller Dachshunds over the standards, when hunting European hare. Originally the smaller Dachshunds were just runts of their litters. Although, some people tried to cross them with Rat Terriers and Pinschers, these crosses were not favored as they didn’t have the Dachshunds hunting skills. Cross-breeding was abandoned by 1910, and they have used selective breeding to get the sizes of Dachshunds we have now.

Breeder's Notes
Mini Dachshund
Dachshunds make the best snuggle buddies and love to cuddle on the couch during a Netflix binge watching marathon. They are very intelligent, and they are very aware of their intelligence which can cause them to be kind of stubborn. They will often outsmart their humans and sometimes have you wondering who is holding the leash in this relationship. They are very loving, but they are also very independent. If you’ve never been owned by a dachshund before it takes patience to get through your training, however once you are through it you’ll never go with any other breed! Dachshunds do well in active or laid-back households. They are very protective of their humans and make sure everyone knows it!
